  • Relief from Abuse

A Protective Order is one way to ensure you and your children remain safe from physical violence. An HJWT attorney is available for day of advice in Bennington and Rutland Counties.

HJWT offers assistance in filling out the application for a Relief from Abuse Order, and representation for hearings to finalize temporary abuse orders.

  • Divorce

Every year, 10 out of 1,000 Vermonters begin the divorce process. Separating after marriage can present many legal challenges; HJWT provides many avenues of support during this process.

  • Custody & Visitation

If you are unmarried with children, you may need to pursue a parentage case. HJWT offers support while navigating Legal and Physical Rights and Responsibilities, and Parent-child contact.

  • Legal Empowerment Assistance Program

For some clients, self-representation during their divorce, custody, or other legal proceedings is a possibility.

The Legal Empowerment Assistance Program is designed to provide clients access to justice by offering long term, on-going support to those who call looking for legal advice and direction.

The LEAP program empowers clients to represent themselves with thorough preparation and skilled expertise from our HJWT staff.

  • Child Support

The state sets guidelines for child support to sustain the children after seperation occurs. HJWT supports clients throughout the child support process, and can work closely with the Office of Child Support to ensure a successful outcome for our clients and thier children.
